UNODC Programme Office in Turkmenistan Successfully Concludes “Youth Awareness & Healthy Lifestyle Week” for World Drug Day 2026

The initiative featured a dynamic schedule designed to build resilience and leadership:

• Opening and Awareness: The week commenced on 25 June with sessions led by RYNCA members, who facilitated scientific demonstrations and discussions on drug prevention. A powerful theatrical performance provided a poignant reminder of the importance of making informed, healthy life choices.
• Healthy Lifestyle Day: On 26 June, participants focused on physical and mental well-being through yoga sessions, self-defense basics, and a vibrant “Food Fest”, where youth shared creative, nutritious alternatives to unhealthy habits.
• Creativity and Emotional Well-being: On 29 June, participants explored self-expression through art therapy sessions and finalized their entries for the logo design competition.
• Youth Voices and Closing: The final day on 2 July featured a spirited debate session and an insightful film screening. Following the screening, participants engaged in a lively discussion, sharing personal insights on resilience and the importance of collective youth action in preventing drug abuse. The week concluded with an energetic flash mob, symbolizing the unity and commitment of the participants.

At the closing ceremony, UNODC officially recognized the participants’ hard work and dedication. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the most active youth leaders for their outstanding contributions to UNODC activities throughout the week. Furthermore, winners of the logo design competition and the “Food Fest” were awarded special certificates in recognition of their creativity, innovation, and advocacy for healthy living.

“The success of this week is a direct result of the energy and dedication of our RYNCA members and all participating youth,” said Rustam Babaev, OIC Head of the UNODC Programme Office in Turkmenistan. “By providing these platforms for dialogue, creativity, and skill-building, we are helping young people become active agents of change in their communities. Their commitment to a drug-free future is truly inspiring.”

This initiative underscores UNODC’s commitment to supporting Turkmenistan’s youth in fostering a generation that is aware, empowered, and actively contributing to positive social development. 

Following this campaign, the programme will continue to engage participants through ongoing “Friends in Focus” sessions, ensuring that the momentum for positive peer support remains strong.
