UN Resident Coordinator Joins Caspian Sea Day Conference, Advocating for Sustainable Development and Environmental Cooperation

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Mr. Dmitry Shlapachenko, took part in the Scientific-Practical Conference titled “The Caspian Sea – Cooperation for Sustainable Development,” held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

The conference brought together representatives from various ministries and state agencies of Turkmenistan, alongside members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan, to discuss and collaborate on issues of sustainable development and environmental preservation concerning the Caspian Sea.

The conference focused on various crucial themes, including the international cooperation on environmental protection, the enforcement of national legislation to preserve the Caspian Sea's flora and fauna, the implementation of the Tehran Convention for the protection of the marine environment, and the key role of the Caspian Sea should symbolize as a sea of peace and friendship.

The conference concluded with a commitment from all participants to continue working together to ensure the sustainable development of the Caspian Sea region, reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship, international collaboration, and the preservation of this vital marine ecosystem.
