The International Seminar is organized jointly by the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN as part of series of events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality. , as approved by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan on 6 December 2019.

About the event
The initiative to hold this Seminar is rooted in the Priority Positions of Turkmenistan at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly and is guided by the importance of mobilization of financing for the implementation of SDGs. It was also proposed that a consideration be given to holding the global Conference on Financing for Development in 2022–2023.
The International Seminar “Financing the SDG Implementation: the Role of Integrated National Financing Mechanisms” is a step towards such global conference, and facilitates continued consideration of previously identified issues of financing for sustainable development at the International Conference on Financing Partnerships for Development in the center of the Great Silk Road (20– June 21, 2018), and at a side-event dedicated to financing for development within the 1st Caspian Economic Forum August 11–12, 2019, follows the spirit and the outcome of the fifth Forum of ECOSOC on Financing for Development and aims to contribute to strengthening the efforts on full and timely implementation of the Addis Ababa Program of Action of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development.
The seminar marks the launch of the Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs in Turkmenistan, initiated by the UN Secretary General in 2020, with a focus on financing for sustainable development.
